Jodi Tate, Founder

“There Are No Spectators”

I learned from my parents, the importance of a plan.  My dad, a former head football coach at Wake Forest, taught me to develop a game plan to move the ball down the field.  Progressively advancing the ball involves adaption, creative solutions and concentrated effort.  My mother, a gourmet cook, taught me to explore different ingredients then use them in creative ways to make wonderful food.  My favorite times are spent with family gathered around the table laughing and sharing stories.  Cooking and planning holiday parties for family and friends brings much joy and balance to life.  Spending time with my niece and nephew, Lily and Jake, is treasured as much as life.

This brings me to a wonderfully long career in real estate.  The first ten years I was a top selling Realtor in the Winston-Salem area.  During the next years I managed branch offices, led a 250 agent company, developed prestigious seminars and provided coaching for hundreds of elite Realtors nationwide.  Developing, communicating and implementing winning strategies are three things I am passionate about.  These three hallmarks have been and continue to be the core of my business mentality.

As a result, there are no spectators when it comes to selling or buying real estate.  My clients are in the loop all the way and learn the game plan and how it will be implemented.  Winning means that ‘we’ achieve your real estate goal.  If you are ready to move the ball down the field toward your real estate goal then extend an invitation to the coach’s daughter and hang on.

“The Spirit of Fine Furniture”

I began life in High Point, NC — the furniture capital of the world.  At twenty-two I led a team of carpenters in repurposing a section of Thomlinson Furniture into glass fronted show rooms at what is now Market Square.  The next sixteen years I was privileged to employ some of the hardest working frame carpenters in the High Point–Greensboro area.  As the economy slowed, I began home repairs and remodeling in Winston-Salem.  I have also been fortunate to have pursued short stints in electronics repair, smart house wiring, security systems, data cabling and real estate investing.  In my spare time I enjoy metal detecting, gardening, collecting Seagrove pottery and spending time outside.

Having grown up surrounded by mom and pop furniture makers, I learned early that the lasting beauty of fine furniture resides in the details.  Incorporating this attribute of planning and working out the details has become the hallmark of all my ventures.  Clients have come to expect exceptional service.  This is the goal every time the Blue Door Group cultivates a new business relationship.  Earning your trust and confidence through integrity, skill and hard work.

You are invited to experience the spirit of fine furniture craftsmanship by working with the Blue Door Group in planning and working out the details of your next real estate transaction.  Comprised of a myriad of experience and expertise, we implement dynamic strategies to achieve your real estate goal better than the next guy.  We like calling North Carolina home and we want to earn your business.

“Thrill of a Lifetime”

Thrilled to be fulfilling a life goal, wild and fantastic visions flooded my thoughts.  In a few minutes I would take a big step into the unknown.  Growing up in Pennsylvania, family, graduating from Brevard and UNC-Greensboro, then marrying my best friend Ryan all flashed in an instant while bracing against the door.  No turning back as I stepped through the door into a cloudless day.  Seconds later a big sigh of relief as the rustling fabric unfolded and whisked me up to soar with the eagles.

While you don’t need to jump from a plane to buy a house, at some point you will stare into the unknown and need to be confident of your next step.  My clients grin and step big because they know:  they have seen the market absorption analysis; they have looked into the attics and the basements; they have a strategy and they know it’s a solid investment.

Each step forward introduces challenges, considerations and legal documents.  Helping you navigate the negotiations and emotions of buying and selling a home is what I enjoy.  Working with agents and helping them utilize the latest technology over the past decade has honed my skills of e-tools. My mission now is to work with my clients in finding just the right home and ensure they step confidently through the door of home ownership.  Be it stepping out into the clear blue sky or stepping over the threshold of your new home, the thrill of a lifetime awaits you.

“I Don’t Quit When I’m Tired, I Quit When I’m Done”

I believe that everyone brings something to the table.  Our history and past experiences make up who we are. My last name is Norwegian or Norske. My ancestors had great passions for adventures, exploring, trading and some were even Vikings. Great passion is in my DNA.

As a young boy and until I moved out for college, I was raised on a farm. We had many different animals, and as you can understand, this work started well before school and continued immediately afterwards, well into the night. At times it was tough, but the animals, my family, and others depended on me to do my part.

I learned quickly as an adult that relationships are the key to success. Applying the same principles toward my career that I learned so many years ago on that farm allows my clients to depend on me to do my part.

Hard work can be its own reward. I have learned to do my work right the first time.  I don’t quit just because I’m tired. I quit when I’m done.   This work ethic is engrained in me, and it’s what I bring to the table for my clients. My passion for what I do, equipped with knowledge, allows me to be a great advocate for my clients. Ultimately, your success is my success.

“There is an Artist in Each of Us”

I received my first quilt in the early 90’s as a birthday present from my mother.  The meticulously hand sewn quilt had thick yellow sashing and adorned large sunflower appliques that could brighten any room.  This quilt served many purposes throughout the years, always bringing warmth and comfort for every role it served.  Whether it added an extra layer of thickness to a bed, creating a place to sit for a picnic, providing security while watching a scary movie, or extra cushion on the floor for a four legged friend; A quilt serves many roles and it takes time and attention into piecing together the perfect masterpiece.

Just like the process of making a quilt, buying a home starts with a vision and carefully piecing together details on what the perfect home would be for you and your family.  Your new home will serve different roles in your life and create many memories for decades to come.

I have many fond memories of growing up in Pilot Mountain and eventually moving to Asheville, NC where I received a BS in Management with a concentration in Marketing.  Asheville is where my love for real estate began.  I was in awe of how fast the unique town was expanding.  The best kept secret in North Carolina wasn’t much of a secret anymore.

Moving back to the Triad in 2010 I was excited to see how much Winston Salem has grown and how downtown embraced the local business scene.  I feel like Winston-Salem is a happy median from the small town of Pilot Mountain and the ever-growing city of Asheville.

Besides exploring Winston-Salem I spend my free time making quilts, practicing yoga, binge watching Netflix, and spoiling my three cats Hurricane, Banks, and Silvio.

“The Right Track”

Being the middle child of two brothers kind of creates your own destiny – that is if you want to have someone to play with at home! A tomboy at heart, I loved playing cars in the dirt with my brothers, building snow tunnels, turning our backyard into a bike track with jumps and hopping on a skateboard. The Valterra was “it” at the time – any Back to the Future fans?

The first several years of my life took place in beautiful upstate New York. This is where I believe I learned to love the simple things in life – skipping rocks across the shimmering water, sun beating down, wind across my face and taking in the breath of life.

My family later settled on residency in the Triad in 1983, where I spent the next 13 years in Alamance County – go Patriots! Later the mountains of NC drew me to Boone where I became a Mountaineer, completing Double Majors in Public Relations and Journalism; Minoring in Business at Appalachian State University. Since 2004, the real estate ‘way-of-life’ has been in my blood.

Not much has changed. I still love the dirt beneath my feet as I step out to the garden or on the way to paddle on some water. And getting messy, but now in the kitchen instead of the back yard, prepping a meal for a loud family gathering.

Being a Realtor isn’t just a career, it truly echoes most thoughts I have and decisions I make, both personally and professionally. It is a life experience I am honored to embark upon with my clients and customers- through luxury homes sales and purchases; strategic marketing and sales of new construction developments; investment purchases, sales and exchanges and so much more.

Sometimes things in real estate can get a little ‘loud’ if you know what I mean – where it can be challenging to find the gentle voice of reason during the sale or purchase of a home. Addressing pre-market home enhancements, the process to contract, repair negotiations and beyond closing day can all resemble the various sounds of a locomotive. However, experience and strategic approach keep you on track, the right track, moving you directly to your real estate goals. So hop on-board, let’s get started.
